2017 Sports

Students participating in races
For sport in 2017 we did lots of activities.
One of the highlights for us was speed soccer. We had some good wins and our senior team won the competition. We always play hard at sport but don’t always win. It was great to have a good win.
We had 5 swimming lessons in term 4 at the Gatton University pool. Our swimming improved and then we had a swimming carnival with the other small schools in the area. We didn’t win although Cooper was age champion and we had a number of seconds and thirds in the age championships.  It was not too hot like last year.
Mr Hooper (our PE teacher) taught us lots of skills in class. We went to Kentville State School for the Frogs and Lizards Carnival to practise. The school travelled on a bus to the Small Schools Athletics Carnival in Laidley. We are beginning to know lots of kids from other schools. Everyone joins in and it is about having a go and improving our skills. Because we are in a small school, we all do everything. In big school sometimes only the good kids get a go.
Chantelle was selected to go to the District Athletics Carnival, then went to represent the Metropolitan Regional Sports Association in Brisbane and is now representing Queensland in Adelaide at the Pacific Games. She is running the 100m, 100m relay, 400 m relay and doing the Shot Putt.
Current word is that Chantelle won a silver in her 100m individual. Her relay team came first but was disqualified.
We went up to Thornton State School for a small schools ball games day. We had a great day and the Lockrose Staff won their event.
